Boo George born in Ireland in 1981 is a fresh fashion photographer. He works with the fresh, upcoming new talents. He started his fashion photography career in 2006 assisting other photographers like, Julian Broad, Phil Poynter and Bruce Weber. Throughout assisting other photographers he soon choose the path he had wanted to take and soon become a new upcoming established photographer, working as an individual he became looking for work to commence and produce on.

He first became interested in Photography whilst he was in college in Dublin, as he was studying media and he had to take a wide range of photo’s throughout. He then applied for a degree course in Photography in England. He soon moved out to London in January 2006 where he got offers of assisting other photographers. His first job was to go out with Julian Broad to Namibia to photograph Brad Pitt in the desert.

His photographic style of photography is said to be quite quiet, he doesn’t like to make his images very loud. He likes a blank expression upon the models faces. he prefers to use digital camera as he has more control with what he can do as he can go home and edit them as soon as he has captured them. He uses a mix range of black & white and colour in his photos as he likes to use mix media.

Throughout his career he got his first breakthrough in 2010 when editor Katie Grand commissioned him to shoot Conde Nast’s biannual Love Magazine. he was caught up to work with this company when Katie Grand witnessed his portraits of Zambian diamond miners.

Boo Georges work is based around the documentation of others and the world around him. This would mean he would go to extravagant lengths to photograph others. he would capture moments of unguarded humanity, this became his main way of work. His idols to which he looked towards was Richard Avendon and Irving Penn.

With his photography work it has made him noticed and was able to shoot within commercial campaigns such as Louis Vuitton and Pringle of Scotland.

To why i like his work, to whom may ask. I like his work as it shows to how anyone he photographs has the potential to be a model, even though if they’re not potentially a model when he photographs them it shows that he can make this out of them.

I like mainly the work he does with black & white as it shows the mood within the image, it expresses to how the models feel as they’re only 3 colours within the image, black, white and grey. Looking at the expressions of the models, he aims towards the mood they’re feeling, he doesn’t constantly make them smile, as then it shows that it isn’t the person you see.

The fashion part of his photography enlightens me as it shows that the models are just wearing everyday smart, casual clothes, this shows to what the model is about and the way they dress can say a lot about them.

Some Of Boo George’s Work

This image by Boo George, Model being Kolfinna Kristófersdóttir, shows the elegance of fashion, the generation which is still going between smart and casual. The image is very powerful to me as the expression and the way she is grabbing her clothes can say loads about the person he is photographing, the sheer suspense that captures her as a model, the mood she was in? The winking right eye to which he has chose to portray works well within the photo, as her hair is swept over one side of her face, showing a kind of squinting style, the clothes grabbing seems vicious, like she is ready to take off her jacket. The lighting and the composure of the image shows a light subtle shine to her face, which creates a flat yet nice shadow within the contours.

This image by Boo George, Model being Meghan Collison, shows the difference between the excitement of the fashion of others. The image to me shows the expression within the image, the posture of her face tilted up in the air at an angle, the teeth showing within, gives the picture a relaxed look, as her mouth is ajar. The clothing within this image reveals the skin within the decor of the top. The lighting looks natural, as the natural shadows within the face, looks like daylight, shining with the face.
